Frequently Asked Questions

What does SGPA stand for?

SGPA is the Semester Grade Point Average — the weighted average of all subjects in one semester, with weights given by credit hours.

How does SGPA convert to percentage?

Most Indian universities use the same formula as CGPA: Percentage = SGPA × 9.5. So a 9.2 SGPA equals roughly 87.4%.

What if a subject has no credit assigned?

Pass/fail or audit subjects with zero credits do not affect SGPA. They appear on the transcript but their grade points are not weighted into the average.

Can SGPA be higher than 10?

No. The maximum SGPA on a 10-point scale is 10.0, achieved only when every subject earns the highest grade (typically O or A+ in Indian systems).
